Attendance Information

Good attendance is of prime importance for the educational development of each student.  A student should not be absent unless it is absolutely necessary.

It is mandatory that written notes be submitted to the Attendance Office within 5 (five) school days of the absence.  If the Attendance Office does not receive documentation from the parent or a physician’s office by hand delivery, online, or fax within 5 (five) school days of the absence, the absence will remain unexcused.

Klein ISD campuses are permitted to accept notification of student absences through Skyward only. To report an absence, please go to Skyward Family Access. When you log in through Skyward, click on "Attendance" and click on "Absence Request" at the top right of the screen. A small dialogue box will appear showing request history. In order to add an absence, click "Add Request". A new dialogue box will open where information about the absence can be entered. The calendar will let you choose the dates in the past/future. A comment box also allows you to describe the nature of the absence. All fields are required. Once you click "Save" the entry is then sent to the attendance office for review and approval. You will be able to check the status of the request to see the outcome. You can still call in early dismissals or you can use the Skyward Absence Request.  Click HERE for a brief handout on how to report an absence.

Early Dismissal/Transportation Changes
Early Dismissals and Transportation Changes cannot be honored after 3:30 PM in order to safely and effectively close out the school day for our student population.  Thank you for your understanding and assistance in this matter.

Please allow a 1 hour notification for early dismissal or earlier if possible.  Many parents arrive to pick up students during P.E., Lunch or Hawks Nest, and the front office runs into trouble locating students on short notice. If we are given advanced notice during those times, then the teacher will know to send the student down to the front office at the requested time.  Requests for early dismissals can be requested on Skyward, a parent note dropped off at the attendance office in the morning, a phone call to 832-375-8811, or email [email protected].
